The Encounter in the Rain
On June 12, 2024, the streets were still slick from a heavy downpour. Under a dim light, I found her—a Golden Retriever, soaked, shivering, and exhausted. Her eyes were filled with a haunting mix of fear and resignation.
Looking at her, my heart ached with a familiar pang. She reminded me so much of my first Golden, a loyal friend I lost years ago in a tragic car accident. In that moment, I knew I couldn’t walk away.
A Bond Named Timo
Gaining her trust wasn't easy. It took patience, a few warm eggs, and the quiet promise that she was safe now. We named her Timo.
A trip to the vet revealed a heartbreaking reality: Timo was suffering from multiple tumors, one of which was severely infected. But there was also a miracle—she was over a month pregnant. Surgery had to wait; she needed a sanctuary first.
We brought her home, prepared nutritious meals, and watched as her fear slowly melted into trust. She began to love her walks and the warmth of a real home. A month later, in the quiet of early morning, the first faint whimpers filled the room. Timo had become a mother to five healthy, beautiful puppies.
